The ancient Salt Mines in Wieliczka is one of the most popular tourists destination nearby Krakow, visited by more than
1 million tourists every year. Wieliczka Salt Mine has operated continuosly since its construction in the Middle Ages.
During 7 centuries of Wieliczka Salt Mines existance, over 7 million cubic meteres of underground passages have
been excavated, extending from 1st level (65 meters underground) to 9th level (327 meters deep) including
more than 2000 chambers and over 300 kilometeres shafts and galleries.
The tourist route is approximately 2 kilometers long and it's located on first 3 levels. Underground tour with a guide lasts from 2,5 to 3 hours. On the tourist route might be seen: large chambers, reachly decorated underground chapels, brine lakes and unique collection of mining machines. For most of the visitors, the most impressive place in the Salt Mines is Chapel of Blessed Kinga entirely made of salt. In 12 meteres heighth and more than 50 meteres long chapel, even chandeliers were curved in salt rock. Another attraction in the end of your stay in the Mine is a ride by pretty quick mining lift that will take you from 3d level (134 meteres deep) to surface in less then 1 minute!

Pick up time is flexible although to avoid crowds and queues we recommend early morning or late afternoon

tickets for 54 PLN (must present valid studend ID)
